VTEX architecture
The question isn't “how customizable is VTEX”, but what belongs inside, what outside, and how you operate at scale without turning the platform into a monolith. I work boundaries between storefront, checkout, BFFs, ERP/OMS/WMS and external services.
- Map domains: native commerce vs core business logic.
- Define ownership and contracts across VTEX apps, BFFs and integrations.
- Cut unnecessary customization that inflates upgrades and support cost.
- Make trade-offs explicit for business and the engineering team.
